Small Business Community Heroes
Direct Energy is proud to support community volunteerism in Pittsburgh through the Small Business Community Heroes award program in partnership with Pittsburgh Magazine.
Designed to acknowledge the valuable contributions made by small business owners in the Pittsburgh Magazine market areas, the Pittsburgh Small Business Community Heroes award program will recognize a small business owner who exemplifies the volunteer spirit.
Recognition and Reward
The Small Business Community Heroes award program is an extension of Direct Energy’s employee volunteer programs that encourage company employees to volunteer their time and energy to causes and organizations in their local community. The award itself will consist of:
- $500 cash prize to the winner;
- $2,000 donation to the winner’s cause of choice in their community, and;
- A full page in the July issue of Pittsburgh Magazine.
How to enter
Nomination forms must be submitted online, mailed or faxed by Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 11:59 pm EST.

A selection committee, formed by representatives from Pittsburgh Magazine and Direct Energy, will review all nominations.
The Small Business Community Heroes award program is open to citizens who reside within a community in the Pittsburgh Magazine market areas. Applicants can either self-nominate or be nominated by another individual or group. Nominations should be no longer than 500 words in length and must detail the specific contribution the small business owner has made to the local community through improving the quality of life for fellow citizens.
